Track one on KŌAN, opener of KŌAN A (March 18, 2022), full LP September 9, 2022. Luke solo on a spatial, headphone-built EP. Glasse Factory called it experimental funk, ambient layers tipping into alt-rock guitar and then an indie-pop-funk anthem. The hook works like Don’t Worry on Big Hug, a command that fails on contact: don’t think I’m not thinking ‘bout it runs eight times, and saying it makes you do it.
Underneath the funk is a 2022 dread stack, NFTs and the end of days and should I procreate or just use my hand? The bridge condenses the record’s title, Schrödinger’s cat read as Zen paradox: is Schrödinger alive? well yes and no, a koan in disguise. Identity comes on loan, and if time doesn’t exist we’re all simultaneously eternal.
