Let's Move to the Top of a Mountain
KŌAN A escape fantasy: me and you on the mountain: bear protection pact, ditch TV for the view, sick of oxygen, flower-named kids, roof naps and herbal tea.

Track two on KŌAN, KŌAN A (March 18, 2022), after Think About It. Luke solo. Where track one spirals on NFTs and Schrödinger, this answers with a mountain utopia: a scat hook (do do do) and domestic fantasy as pop celebration. The grammar wobbles between on top of a mountain and to the top of a mountain, as if the plan isn’t quite real yet.
The fantasy is built from things the narrator has never had. Will you protect me? And I’ll protect you turns love into mutual guard duty against a nature he’s only met in a zoo, and I never ever ever ever seen a constellation is a quiet light-pollution confession. In between: ditch the television, name the kids after flowers, let them pick their own religion, sip herbal tea. Same wellness register as Don’t Worry and High Society, but sincere here rather than satirical.
The koan never resolves. You just sing yourself uphill. Pairs with Boardwalk as KŌAN A’s movement against wandering: one wants altitude, the other can’t leave the sand.
Written, performed, and mixed by Luke Francis Walton. Mastered by Riley Knapp. Artwork by Grizzard Graphics.
