Track six on Big Hug, a single pitched ahead of the album in September 2021 and added to Spotify’s worldwide New Music Friday (@beformer announcement, Sep 3, 2021). That placement is how CHAI heard Scoobert. It is not the first pop. Can’t Imagine Feeling Better is. On October 5, 2026, Spotify showed 186,555 plays on this single, 3:07 (screenshot). The Big Hug page showed the same figure. The same day, Can’t Imagine Feeling Better showed 1,115,638. The counts move. The other worldwide New Music Friday add is time with u (January 5, 2024). Luke solo. PAN WINYL (September 12, 2021, Tomasz Olszewski) names the same New Music Friday add and Fresh Finds. Spotify for Artists emails: Fresh Finds on September 9, 2021 (849.3k followers), then Fresh Finds: Pop that night at 11:00 p.m. and again on September 10 at 2:18 p.m. (134.4k followers). The New Music Friday email arrived September 4, 2021 at 12:20 p.m. (3.8 million followers), the morning after Beformer’s announcement. UNXIGNED read it as self-deprecation as freedom, not just confession, and that’s the trick: the hook is a joke you can sing in public, with the hmm refrain doing the embarrassed punctuation.

The verses run a familiar tape. Faking the laugh and correcting mid-bit (ooo yeah, I mean no, I’m sorry dude, I didn’t follow), envying the narcissists who shoot they shot and never think they miss, then lying awake while the brain keeps skipping over stupid things you’ve said. The bridge is a clean statement of the spotlight effect: nobody is really looking your way, you’re only that important in your own head. The flip is generous, if anything you might be a little entertained by this idiot, the performance of idiocy turned into the actual product.

CHAI: Amiri Kawamura, 音楽通信 records MANA: she found Scoobert on Spotify’s New Music Friday, posted the song to her Instagram story, and he wrote back. She asked him to arrange 「まるごと」 and shared a romantic, nostalgic brief. She does not name the playlist song. This site’s credit order identifies it as I’m an Idiot. The remix Miracle (Scoobert Doobert Remix) came first. WHOLE and MY DREAM followed. FM NACK5 played this song and then CHAI back to back on the February 4, 2022 log: I’m an Idiot at 27:38, 「まるごと」 at 27:43, and ACTION (with ZAZEN BOYS) at 27:47.
