Tamtam (Reem Altamimi), co-written with Jordan Benjamin (Grandson); produced by Brandon Woodward and Luke Walton (FEiN), before the Scoobert bedroom-pop breakout. Video directed by Meshal Al Jaser.
FEKR’s Meet Tamtam feature names the credits explicitly: Rise was “written alongside Jordan Benjamin, commonly known as Grandson, and was produced by Brandon Woodward and Luke Walton, commonly known as Fein”; the video was “directed by … Meshal Al Jaser.” Tamtam told FEKR it is one of her favorite bodies of work: “a lot of my favorite creatives were involved in the making of it … the mix of everyone’s creativity results in something unique and beautiful.” The song’s frame is rising above society’s noise and following your gut: “Growing up in a more conservative society in Saudi, made me doubt myself when it came to music … those limiting beliefs are really up to each individual to change.” Performed at Abu Dhabi Festival’s Ramadan series alongside spiritual repertoire.
Kuwait Rising (April 27, 2018, DAI cultural center, Kuwait): fourth edition of Zahed Sultan’s festival (with Red Bull Music Academy); Joss Stone headlined (Total World Tour debut in Kuwait); Tamtam on the bill with Sarathy Korwar and Hadi Zeidan. Luke Francis Walton performed with Tamtam: also named in the Lyn Winter Rise press release (Aug 2018). Tamtam later called it an “amazing music festival” in a What’s On interview (Dec 2021), where she also named Luke Walton and Brandon Woodward as EP producers and said she hoped to keep working with FEiN.
