More to Lose

KŌAN B loneliness loop: don't wanna be alone or die alone: the more you live the more you lose, not much else to do, then no no no no.

Track eleven on KŌAN, KŌAN B (May 2022), between Less than Nothing and High Society. Luke solo. Where Less than Nothing asks dumb questions and withholds the payoff, this strips to a single fear stated plainly.

The verse toggles between I and we (it’s all I’ve ever known / it’s all we’ve ever known), loneliness as both personal history and the shared dread after the pandemic years on this record. The title hook is the koan without jokes: the more you live, the more you lose, not much else to do. No NFT, no beach, no army ads, just arithmetic, and the only refusal is no tagged after each line. The song ends still asking.

Same post-Big Hug loneliness lane as If I Could Only (wake alone untethered) and All My Friends Live on the Internet on KŌAN C, but minimal here: no characters, no internet, just the loop. Pairs with Less than Nothing as KŌAN B’s body-versus-isolation diptych, breath you can’t trust and company you can’t keep.

Written, performed, and mixed by Luke Francis Walton. Mastered by Riley Knapp. Artwork by Grizzard Graphics.

Lyrics
I don't wanna be alone
It's all I've ever known
I don't wanna die alone
It's all we've ever known

I don't wanna be alone
In time, that's all I'll know
The more you live
The more you lose
Not much else to do

I don't wanna be alone
No
It's all I've ever known
I don't wanna die alone
No
It's all we've ever known

I don't wanna be alone
In time, that's all I'll know
The more you live
The more you lose
Not much else to do

I don't wanna be alone
No
I don't wanna be alone
No
I don't wanna be alone
No
I don't wanna be alone
No
