Michael Bublé, My Santa Buddy
A holiday prayer to the hibernating crooner: loop the Christmas playlist forever, keep him out of the cave, and ask for nothing more than a platonic Santa Buddy who sings Fanny Bright twice.
Listen: SpotifyApple Music
A Scoobert Christmas deep cut (2023), also on A Very Doobert Christmas, Vol. 1. Not part of the US chapter cycle; it’s seasonal standalone absurdism.
The joke is affection without irony poisoning it: Michael Bublé as a Canadian hibernating creature who must emerge each winter to sing for the children kept inside, hockey bro, Vegas carnival energy, platonic Santa Buddy. The middle verse runs the holiday songbook (Fanny Bright, silent night, Frosty), asks whether Frosty’s corncob pipe had CBD in it, then panics that Michael might be done, leaving only one theology: loop the playlist.
The ending lands on wonderland domesticity: won’t you be my friend, make our day, play again tonight. Bu-bu-bu-Bublé as mantra. It’s parody that still wants the warmth.
Written, performed, and mixed by Luke Francis Walton.
Lyrics
Michael Bublé is coming out his cave again It's time to sing a song of winter For the children kept inside Oh Michael, sing it nice And play it for me twice I wanna hear your Santa Buddy song He seems like a cool dude A hockey lover too Oh Canada is proud to let him free Again tonight Michael Bublé is coming out to play again Defrosting by the fireside And shaking off the rust A holiday for us But sing each day he must I wanna watch you dance in Vegas Like a carnival delight And late into the night Oh Michael won't you play for all of us for life? Sing us a song of Fanny Bright and Parson Brown Tell us of the silent night as Christmas comes around Sing us a song of Frosty and his corncob pipe Was CBD inside it as Frosty melted in the summer sun? Oh no, is Michael done? Let's loop the playlist Sing it all again tonight Michael Bublé is coming out his cave again It's time to sing a song of winter For the children kept inside Oh Michael, sing it nice And play it for me twice I wanna hear your Santa Buddy song He seems like a cool dude Now I believe in you Oh Canada is proud to let him free For Christmas time Yeah, Michael won't you be my friend? A lovely holiday to spend Inside our little wonderland So Michael Bublé, Santa Buddy, Platonic Christmas friend Won't you make our day And play for all of us Again tonight Tonight tonight tonight Bu-bu-bu-Bublé Bu-Bublé Bu-bu-bu-Bublé, Santa friend
