Getting Easier
Imagining fatherhood before it exists: plant-parent trial run, drowned cactus, California fire and drought: wanting someone happy and a little lazy on the clouds until ready gets easier.

Track ten on MÖB, penultimate before All I Need. Luke’s note: trying to conceive of being a father. He does not have kids yet, so the song is rehearsal, not report.
The fantasy starts small and honest. Maybe you and I become plant parents, then I killed our tiny cactus, overwatered, drowning in doubt: parenting anxiety scaled to something you can kill on a windowsill. Verse two widens to the state, Yosemite green again while older trees turn to ash, and to a crack in the relationship (I hate it when you say that), before the bridge asks the real question under the fire and waterfall: will I ever be ready.
The chorus is the answer he can give now: I want you to be happy and a little lazy drifting on the clouds. Not a kid yet, a wish. Nothing is ever easy, but the title lands twice: it’s getting easier to me. This is MÖB trying on adulthood without pretending it’s arrived.
Written, performed, produced, and mixed by Luke Francis Walton. Mastered by Riley Knapp. Album art by Gentle Giant Illustrations.
Lyrics
I wanna wake up in your orbit Gravity keeping us warm forever Maybe you and I become plant parents To prove that we could do it together Oh no, I killed our tiny cactus Overwatered, drowning in doubt California soil, out of practice Where a cigarette meets record drought Oh, throw me into the fire Oh oh, meet me under the waterfall Yosemite is turning green again Older trees are turning to ash A phoenix from a wildfire Rising out from under the snowpack Summer, what a throwback Wildflower Hashtag California superbloom I hate it when you say that I thought nothing was perfect I thought nothing was worth it I'm thinking that I didn't think it out enough no Oh, throw me into the fire (Will I ever be Will I ever be Will I ever be ready) Oh oh, meet me under the waterfall Oh, throw me into the wildfire Oh oh, meet me under the waterfall Nothing is ever easy But it's easy I want you to be happy And a little lazy drifting on the clouds Nothing is ever easy But it's easy to me I want you to be happy And a little lazy drifting on the clouds Nothing is ever easy But it's getting easier to me Nothing is ever easy But it's getting easier to me
