MÖBIUS

Scoobert Doobert · Album · Planned

The planned fourth and final turn of the MÖBIUS cycle (MÖB → I → US → MÖBIUS), meant to fold the Scoobert catalog back through itself. Burt Cashman and cawleen are characters on it and credited on it. No date, tracklist or credits announced.

MÖBIUS is the planned fourth turn of the MÖBIUS cycle, the LP that closes the loop MÖB → I → US → MÖBIUS. It is not out. There is no release date, no tracklist and no credit sheet yet, and this page will not guess at any of them. The year people sometimes hear attached to it is an expectation, not a schedule.

What it is reaching for

The line Luke F. Walton put on it in October 2026: “MÖB / I / US generated the material. MÖBIUS gets to eat it.” The record is meant to fold the existing Scoobert Doobert catalog back through itself: not re-recording the earlier songs but sampling them, vocals, stems, riffs, room noise, mistakes, as raw material beside new songs. It is meant to move from bedroom-pop lo-fi toward larger art-pop production without losing the tape-ish intimacy. The fiction network is part of its vocabulary, which is why Burt Cashman and cawleen are already on it. And the visual album may live on the web first, as an interactive site, with any video version a recorded path through it.

All of that is intent, stated here so it is on the record early. How much of it survives contact with the actual record is open, and this page will say so when it changes.

What is decided

The stated goal: loop in the whole Scoobert history, the broader network, and the other works, and blend what is fact and what is fiction.

Two figures from the fiction network are part of the record on both levels, as characters in it and as credited artists on it:

  • Burt Cashman, the jingle composer. A major character on MÖBIUS, and a credited artist and performer on it. Burt is a fictional person created by Luke F. Walton; his website is written in his voice.
  • cawleen, the London artist from The Signatories, the novel by Luke F. Walton and Jonathan Gillie. A character on MÖBIUS, and a credited artist on it. cawleen is a fictional person; recordings released under the name are credited to cawleen.

Which tracks are theirs is not decided and is not listed here.

Where it sits

Moonlight Beach (2023) named the cycle. MÖB and I are out. US is in progress, with the full LP scheduled for January 2027. MÖBIUS follows it.
