Between Dreams

Between Dreams, debut album by Nina Francis (October 7, 2017). Written by Nina Francis; produced by Luke Walton and Brandon Woodward at Tiny Giant Recording; mixed and mastered by Frank Rosato (bonus He Was Talking to Me recorded by Chris Sampson), Bandcamp. The same credits name the photograph by Dylan Rosgone and the design by Nina Francis. Eleven originals, in Bandcamp order: Cold Water, More, All My Life, The Rose, Dangerous, Heart Shapes, Make Up Your Mind, Curiosity, Los Angeles, We’re Gonna Be Alright, and He Was Talking to Me (Bonus Track). Jazzy, guitar-led singer-songwriter material in a Norah Jones vein. In a ListenSD interview published the release day, Francis says that since her 2014 release she had written over a hundred tunes, and this album is the 11 she kept coming back to.

Francis is a recognized San Diego artist: official site leads with 2020 San Diego Music Awards Best Singer-Songwriter; Times of San Diego also lists the win. USC Thornton Popular Music (2014) after Bishop’s School; San Diego Reader on studying with Randy Newman and Lamont Dozier. The April 2014 USC Thornton Pop Showcase at the Troubadour put FEiN, Nina Francis, and Nick Belcher on the same senior bill, the USC connection behind later Boomerang and this album. Post-USC: Music Box, Belly Up, Java Joe’s residency.
