James Christopher Walton (–2025)

James Christopher Walton, called Joshua, was a son of Frank J. Walton and Helen Barbara Walton, and a brother of Mark Francis Walton . He is the uncle who gave Luke F. Walton the paternal family record . The San Diego Union, on 12 February 1991 , placed him in Washington, D.C. A July 2003 guide names Joshua C. Walton as senior vice president for Africa and the Middle East at ACDI/VOCA . A funeral Mass was set for 29 November 2025. The year on this page is the year of that Mass. No death certificate has been read, and no birth date.

Frank and Helen’s son

The Union obituary lists their children: Carol Bassett of Seattle, Michael Walton of San Diego, Joshua Walton of Washington, D.C., Mark Walton of Jacksonville, Florida, and Maribeth Walton of Encino. It names three grandchildren and a sister, Liz Roberson of Santa Monica. It gives Joshua no middle name. The funeral page gives the name James Christopher (Joshua) Walton. The 2003 guide gives Joshua C. Walton. Luke identifies them as one man, his uncle.

Washington and the cooperatives

Helen’s 2012 obituary in the U-T places Joshua Walton in Alexandria, Virginia. His LinkedIn , read on 14 October 2026, places him in New Alexandria, Virginia. It lists the University of San Francisco from 1969 to 1973 and names no degree. It gives him as senior vice president, Africa/Middle East, at ACDI/VOCA from 1987 to 2007, then senior agribusiness advisor at The QED Group, LLC, from 2008 to 2010 and at NCBA/CLUSA from 2008 to 2011, and senior agribusiness consultant at an employer it names only as NA. On 14 October 2026 the profile still listed that last role.

A case study under his name, “Agricultural Cooperatives in Ethiopia (ACE),” gives the same title, senior vice president for Africa and the Middle East, at ACDI/VOCA in Washington. The copy read prints no publication date. It describes the organization’s work with farmer cooperatives in Ethiopia, and it names July 2001. The July 2003 fundraising guide lists him, as Joshua C. Walton, in that Washington office.

A public event page gives a funeral Mass for James Christopher (Joshua) Walton on 29 November 2025, at 11 a.m. Eastern, from the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul . It gives no day of death. He had died by that Mass.

Not the South Albany obituary

The Barton Chronicle , on 26 January 2011, printed an obituary for a different James Christopher Walton. He was 70, of South Albany, born 12 October 1940 in Newton, Massachusetts, a son of James Clement and Alice McNamara Walton, and he died on 15 January 2011.
